Media Air Filter Replacement & Installation in Columbus, OH

Do you suffer from allergies or asthma? Is your home constantly filled with dust and dirt? Is your HVAC unit working overtime? At Reynoldsburg Heating & Cooling, our Five Star air filtration experts can help you find a solution tailored to your home and your needs.

Media Air Filters

Upgrade to Media Air Filter Today!

Regularly replacing air filters is an essential part of owning an HVAC system because it can increase the life expectancy of the equipment. When installed properly, they also minimize the need for repairs by eliminating the stress and strain caused by poor airflow. Homeowners are encouraged to check their air filters at least once every month and replace them as often as necessary.

Nevertheless, we at Reynoldsburg Heating & Cooling remind homeowners that not all air filters are equal. The standard air filters with your home heating systems are only designed to protect your HVAC equipment. They don’t do anything to improve air quality. If you want to enhance air quality, you can upgrade your air filters to a media air filter with a higher MERV rating or to a four-inch air filter instead of the one-inch filter most widely used in homes today. If you want to upgrade your air filter to improve indoor air quality and live in Greater Columbus, you are in the right place. Call Reynoldsburg Heating & Cooling today at (614) 879-3789.

4 Benefits of Air Filter Upgrades

The benefits of air filters are numerous, as they help to keep the air in our homes and businesses clean and free from allergens, dust, bacteria, mold, smoke, and other airborne pollutants. Air filters trap these particles on their surfaces before entering our living spaces. This helps to ensure that the air we breathe is safe and pure.

1.) Energy savings

Who wouldn’t want to save yearly money on heating and air conditioning costs? Media filters allow homeowners to do just that by keeping their HVAC equipment clean. Although it doesn’t cost as much as a portable or electronic air purifier, the air quality improvements increase your HVAC’s overall efficiency and help keep utility costs in check.

2.) Removal of Air Pollution

Installed into your residential heating and air conditioning system, media air cleaners continuously trap and extract particles, pollution, and indoor allergens that often cause a wide range of respiratory issues and other health problems when left free. As a bonus, removing this stuff from your air supply also helps reduce dust, making cleaning needs less frequent. Having less in your home will make the place look and feel cleaner.

3.) Reduces the need for maintenance

Air filters using this type of high-performance accordion air filter must be replaced at least once per year. To start, we recommend checking your air filters every six months for replacement, and then depending on the factors contributing to your home’s dust accumulation; your air filters might only need to be replaced once each year.

4.) Protect Your HVAC System

You can maximize the lifespan of your HVAC equipment by using a media filter, which will help keep your HVAC systems’ indoor coil clean. This makes the equipment last longer as well. Whole Home Air Cleaners are thicker and have a much larger surface area to capture, trap and remove more dirt and dust than standard air filters.

Contrary to popular belief, the air within our homes and workplaces can contain harmful pollutants. Substances like lead, fire retardants, asbestos, formaldehyde, carbon monoxide, radon, mold, and volatile chemicals from cleaning products are often present. These pollutants can negatively impact our health, energy levels, mood, and well-being.

Modern homes are designed to be airtight for energy efficiency purposes, which traps pollutants indoors. This emphasizes raising awareness about indoor air pollution and its potential health implications. Homeowners should prioritize indoor air quality to ensure a safe and comfortable living environment.

Q: What is a HEPA filter?

HEPA is a type of pleated mechanical air filter. It is an acronym for "high efficiency particulate air [filter]" (as officially defined by the U.S. Dept. of Energy). This type of air filter can theoretically remove at least 99.97% of dust, pollen, mold, bacteria, and any airborne particles with a size of 0.3 microns (µm). The diameter specification of 0.3 microns corresponds to the worst case; the most penetrating particle size (MPPS). Particles that are larger or smaller are trapped with even higher efficiency. Using the worst case particle size results in the worst case efficiency rating (i.e. 99.97% or better for all particle sizes). (Source)

Q: What are the most common causes of IAQ problems?

The most common causes of IAQ problems in buildings are:

  • Not enough ventilation, lack of fresh outdoor air or contaminated air being brought into the building
  • Poor upkeep of ventilation, heating and air-conditioning systems, and
  • Dampness and moisture damage due to leaks, flooding or high humidity
  • Occupant activities, such as construction or remodeling
  • Indoor and outdoor contaminated air

Q: Is there a test that can find an IAQ problem?

There is no single test to find an IAQ problem. Your employer should check measurements of temperature, humidity and air flow. In addition, inspection and testing of the ventilation, heating and air conditioning systems (to make sure it is working according to specifications for building use and occupancy) should be performed. A building walk-through to check for odors and look for water damage, leaks, dirt or pest droppings may be helpful. Leaks need to be eliminated. Standing water in humidifiers, air conditioning units, on roofs and in boiler pans can become contaminated with bacteria or fungi and need to be eliminated, also. Specific testing for radon or asbestos may be required in some circumstances as part of building occupancy. For instance, in schools, asbestos must be checked every three years and re-inspected every 6 months (under the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act-AHERA).
